Name DeCook used in Roudabush Survey differs from name De Cook used in photograph set. DeCook was used.

A 1½ story house (1836) on Outlet Rd. has square cut quoins of uniform size. Additions have been added to the right side and back. Stones are irregular and slightly smoothed, laid four courses to the quoin. Roudabush Survey page 87

"The Cobblestone Houses of Upstate New York", compiled by Dorothy Wells Pease. Research done in collaboration with Hazed B. Jeffery, supplemented with material furnished by Carl F. Schmidt, 1941. Reference the thirteenth paragraph on page 18.

Original owner: Adam VanDeusen purchased this tract from the Government, his son A. L. VanDeusen inherited. The name "A.L.VanDeusen" appears to be etched in the lintel above the door.
Subsequent Owner(s): Remained in the VanDeusen family as of 1/24/1947 newspaper article great-grandson Glyndon Garlock VanDusen and brother Frank owned it as of that date; Irving, Walter, & Raymond DeCook (Walt is current owner, although the cobblestone is long gone now).

Structural Details: 1½ story house, gable faces road; center entrance w/1 window each side and 2 smaller windows centered in the space above the lower openings. The left side has 3 windows spaced along its length with no openings above them. On the right is a 1-story 4 bay wing spanned by a porch along its entire length; with no openings on its end wall. A frame 2nd story has been added above the wing. Although the porch is not framed in, the roof obscures the structural and masonry details of the wing.

Masonry Details: Limestone tooled, square-cut quoins are of uniform size; neatly cut lintels and sills of same material. Horizontal V'd joints; pyramids on verticals. Multi-sized, shaped, and colored stones are irregular and slightly smoothed, and are laid 4/Q[uoin] on both the front and side. On the gable end, from the cornice to the peak the stones appear to have been slightly larger and/or had a few more reds mixed in with them. Although not discernible, the name of the original owner was etched into the lintel above the door.
